| This web site contains audio clips that can be played directly from the internet. With higher bandwidth connections like Cable-Modem and DSL becoming more widespread, the quality of audio streaming rivals that of audio CD's. There are several ways to stream audio from our site. Typically, a page containing audio clips will appear something like this example from The Spirit Spring album page: |
| Each track that
has clips will look something like this. If you click on the picture or the "Sample
Length" link, you will be taken to a page related specifically to that track with
more artwork and the accompanying album notes. If you click on the "MP3 File
128kbps" link, you will initiate download (or streaming if you have a high speed
connection) of the MP3 file for the clip. If you click on "RealAudio 56kbps" you
will initiate playback of a high quality clip in RealAudio format for 56kbps modem
connections. For slower connections, click on "RealAudio 28.8kbps" to stream the
lower quality RealAudio clip.

Audio Streaming with the RealPlayerTo stream audio clips in the RealAudio format directly you must first have the RealAudio RealPlayer 7 audio player installed on your system. Click the icon at the right to go to the RealAudio web site and download the free version or purchase and download the "Plus" version.
|
|
| If you have
installed the RealPlayer and you have a 28.8 kbps or
slower connection to the internet, then click here to test
your audio streaming capability. The RealPlayer
should open and begin playing a clip:
Streaming at 28.8 kbps generally results in much lower quality than streaming at higher connection speeds. If you are using a 28.8 kbps modem we highly recommend that you upgrade to a 56 kbps Flex or V.90 modem or even DSL or Cable-Modem. If you have installed the RealPlayer
and you have a 56 kbps connection or faster then click here to test
your audio streaming capability. Streaming at 56 kbps results in a higher quality sound,
although it still does not approach CD quality. To get that, you'll need to use the MP3 format.

Audio Streaming MP3 files with the Microsoft Media PlayerMicrosoft provides a full-featured Media Player that supports many different audio and video formats. The nice thing about the media player is that it is available for free by clicking on the image to the right of this paragraph. |
|
| Once you have installed the Media
Player, you can stream MP3 files from this site, provided
that you have a high speed connection to the internet. Otherwise, you will be prompted to
download the file and save it on your hard drive. You can then play the clip directly from
your own computer using the Media Player.
If you have installed the Media
Player and you have high bandwidth internet connection,
try out MP3 streaming by clicking here.
