Narration:

It came to pass that there arose a great leader among the People. He was called Wakinyan Tanka, the Great Thunderbird. And one day he came to the People and said: "It is time for us to go home." But the People were afraid, so he said: "Fear not, for we have kept our faith and will come to no harm."

And so the People began their long journey home..

Lyrics:

When you look around and you can’t touch ground
‘Cause you just can’t get your feet back down
When you look so hard and it can’t be found
And you just don’t know your way around

Then you’ll Look for me and then you’ll see
That I know just the place to be
Home to the desert, home, home
Home to the valley, home

Will you follow me?
Down the mountain
To the city
To a life where we’ll be free

When you’ve lost your way at the end of the day
And there’s nothing anyone can say
When you’ve gone so far and it’s been so long
And you just don’t think you can be strong

Walk with me and in time you’ll see
That there’s just one place to be
Home to the valley, home, home
Home to the city, home

Take me to the city
That’s where I want to be now
Take me to the valley
That’s where I’ll find my home now

Take me to the water

Home to the valley, home, home
Home to the city, home

Take me to the city

Take me to the valley

Notes:

Wakinyan Tanka is the Sioux phrase for the great thunderbird. This seemed to fit since he was a leader of people in the high country. This song represents their long migration back to the desert lands of the Anasazi where the great cliff palaces were built.
