Narration: The journey was long and hard, and many people were lost. The Children lived in the mountains for many generations. The winters were cold and survival was difficult but they always kept the Blessingway and honored the memories of Makhta and Cikala. And they called themselves the People, for they were not Children any more. They loved the forest and their freedom. Yet deep in their hearts they still longed for home and the ways of their Fathers Fathers. |
Notes: The reference to the People is essentially a direct translation of the word Navajo. The Navajo and Hopi ultimately came to occupy the lands of the Anasazi. Were taking a little liberty with their ancestry here, assuming that they and the Anasazi had a common or shared heritage. |
