Narration: In time, the Children, in their pride and prosperity grew lazy and began to forget the ways of their Fathers. Soon, they strayed from the Blessingway. Seeing this, the Coyote rose from his long rest and sent a cold wind across the City of Rock and drove the Children out from it. |
Notes: According to Navajo legend, the Anasazi lost their faith and began to abuse the Blessingway for their own egos. This and the fact that they grew lazy caused their crops to fail driving them out in search of food. The Navajo later occupied the land, but never the cities. They preferred to live more individually, closer to their crops and the land. |
